Crinum macowanii, or River Lily, shows her pale pink flowers at the beginning of November to December. Flowering begins at 3 years thereafter producing bunches of up to 25 large flowers for a quite spectacular display or up to 90 cm high. Flowers are bell-shaped and pale to dark pink to white with black pollen, and tips that curl back. This Crinum grows naturally in the Pretoria / Magaliesberg region and occurs in grasslands, rocky areas and close to rivers. This is one of the easiest of the SA Crinum, and is a popular landscaping plant for a variety of situations.
